Edith Driver Obituary

Mrs. Edith Driver, 89, went home to be with the Lord, on Saturday October 12th 2019.  She drifted from this world peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family.  Edith, or "Goodie", as she was so lovingly referred to, was predeceased by her parents and 5 siblings, Edna, James, Willie, Mattie, and Bill.  Goodie will also be greeted at Heaven's door by her true love of 59 years, Mr. Fletcher Smith.  A long time resident of Holyoke, she was a 30 year member of the New Creation Discipleship Church and a member of the Obie Knox Lodge of Elks #1568 I.B.P.O.E.  Her love for God, her family, and a smooth ride in a cadillac, will never be forgotten.  She leaves behind to carry out her legacy, her sisters, Ruby Jewel Baskerville and Mattie Parks;  her best friends, Ms. Emma Marshall, Ms. Diane Hughes, and Francis Daniels;  and many nieces and nephews that she considered her own.  She had a hand in raising so many children, but those she considered her own, were her goddaughter, Terika Henderson;  the Newman children, Patricia, Michael, and Shawn;  sons she called her own, Mr. Jerry Berry and Mr. Jerome Douchette;  and her granddaughter, Ms. Jilena Cichon.  Ms. Goodie leaves this world with her strong faith, and her words to remember "God sits high but he looks low", and simply said "leave it in God's hands".  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the New Creation Discipleship Church, 893 Boston Rd, Springfield, MA 01119.  Homegoing service will be held Monday, October 21st, at St. John's Congregational Church, 45 Hancock St., Springfield, MA.  The calling hours are 9-10:30 am followed by the funeral service at 10:30 with burial service at Forestdale Cemetery in Holyoke.
