Edna B White

Edna Belle White, 89, departed this life on Monday, March 19, 2018, at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Blackville, SC, she was the daughter of Jannie (Walker) Ellison and Elliott Flimes. A lifelong resident of Springfield, Edna worked for many years throughout Springfield and was a long-standing member of the Zion Community Baptist Church. She was a dedicated and loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left an indelible mark in the heart of all who knew her for her cheerful smile and giving heart. Pre-deceased by her daughters, Alice Eldridge and Betty White, her granddaughter, LaDonna Poe, and her sister, Eartha Jourdan, Edna is survived by her brother-in-law, George Jourdan of Springfield; her great-grandson, Dijon Shepard of Springfield; three great-great grandchildren, Alanna Wilson and Jaden Shepard of Chicopee, and Avah Manarite of East Hartford, CT; a nephew Elliott Jourdan Sr.; a niece Rose Jourdan; and two great-nephews, Elliott Jourdan Jr. and Devin Jourdan, all of Ashburn, VA; her church family; and many friends to cherish her memory. The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Monday at Zion Community Baptist Church, 1140 Roosevelt Ave., followed by the funeral at 11 with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery
