Evelyn L. Sharpe

Evelyn Louise (Green) Sharpe, 91, was called away to be with the Lord, on Friday, December 27, 2019.  Born in Deland, FL, she was the daughter of Nether Lee (Bosley) Green and George Green.  She had lived in New York, Georgia, and Florida prior to making Springfield her permanent home, for the last 54 years, where she taught in the Springfield Public School System until her retirement.  She was an alumnus of Westfield State Teachers College and a member and musician at New Life Calvary Baptist Church, and former member of Macedonia C.O.G.I.C.  Pre-deceased by her husband, James Sharpe Sr. and a son, James Sharpe Jr., she is survived by two sons, Avery Sharpe (and wife Cheryl) of Plainfield, MA and Kevin Sharpe (and wife H. Kolu) of Springfield;  five daughters, Evelyn McQueen (and husband George), Irene Westbrook, and Wanda Rivera, all of Springfield, Carol Hetland of Tacoma, WA, and Benita Witherspoon (and husband Eric) of Merrimack, NH;  22 grandchildren;  and 20 great-grandchildren to cherish her memory.  The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Friday at Macedonia C.O.G.I.C., 213 Tinkham Road, followed by a celebration of her life well lived at 11, with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
