Georgiana Jones

Georgiana (Martin) Jones, 89, of Dunmoreland Street, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2019 at Mercy Medical Center.  Born in Jenkinsville, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Abraham and Mary Martin . A longtime Springfield resident, she was a member and Deaconess of Gardner A.M.E. Zion Church where she had served as President of the Missionary Society.  Predeceased by a son Robert, and nine siblings, (Abraham Martin, John Martin , Ralph Martin, Isaac Martin, Golden Martin, Beatrice Thatcher, Mamie King, Theodora Davis and Carrie Hancock),  Deaconess Jones is survived by three sons Darryl , Keith ( and wife Myan) of Springfield and William Jr. (and Cynthia) of E. Hartford, CT; one daughter Denise Jones of East Hartford, CT; a brother Willie Martin, a sister Edna Christian of Baltimore, MD;and  5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  The calling hour is 10:00-11 a.m.  on Wednesday at Gardner A.M.E. Zion Church, 368 Bay Street followed by the funeral at 11:00 with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
