Johnnie C Booker

Johnnie C. Booker, 89, of Warrenton St., Springfield, MA, departed this life on January 9, 2018. Born in Rayle, GA, he was the oldest of 13 children of Amaziah and Harvine Booker Mitchell. Johnnie was a U.S. Army veteran. He moved to Springfield in the 1950's and worked for Springfield DPW for many years. Predeceased by his parents and his wife, Johnsie (Patrick) Booker, he is survived by six children, Patrina Booker and Arthur Cash (Laverne), both of Springfield, Calvin Patrick (Theresa) of New Britain, CT, Daryl Cash (Evelyn) of Newport News, VA, and Lucy Watkins (Ray) and Bobby Jean Pitts, both of Athens, GA; two brothers, George Mitchell and Clemous Mitchell, both of Springfield; a sister, Viola Mitchell of Springfield; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren. The calling hour is noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 1, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
