Joseph Hawkins Obituary

Joseph Louis Hawkins, 82, of the Hyde Park area of Boston, departed this life on Sunday June 17, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Born in Henderson, North Carolina, he was the eighth of ten children born to Charles Hawkins Sr. and Lillie (Roberts) Hawkins. Joe worked in Boston and here in Springfield as a roofer and stone mason for Roberson Construction Co. for many years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend of 55 years, Gwendolyn Hawkins of Hyde Park, MA; a brother George Hawkins and sister Elizabeth Hawkins both of Henderson, NC and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of his family. A memorial service to honor his life will be held on Saturday, August 4th. Contact Harrell Funeral Home for further details.
