Mary Louise (Reddick) Bass, 83, of Norfolk St., departed this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in High Point, NC, she was a daughter of Edward Reddick and Rosa (LeGrande) Reddick. Mary was a 66-year Springfield resident and had been employed as an LPN at Baystate Medical Center for 22 years until her retirement. She was a member of Zion Community Baptist Church and the Silver Saints. Pre-deceased by her parents and her husband, Willie Cephus Bass, she leaves a son, Thomas Bass of Springfield; two daughters Donna Bass Johnson and Cheryl Bass, both of Alexandria, VA; a beloved grandson, Donovan; a step-daughter, Ruby Williams of Baltimore, MD; a brother, A. D. Reddick; and a sister, Sylvia McInnis both of High Point, NC. Some of her greatest joys were spending time with her grandson, reading, gardening, cooking, and visiting the sick and shut-in. Mary was also pre-deceased by her brother, Henry Reddick and five sisters, Lilly Mae Gillard, Evelyn Walls, Maggie Baker, Shirley Reddick, and Kelsie Coombs. The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Thursday, January 17, at Zion Community Baptist Church, 1140 Roosevelt Ave., followed by the funeral at 11 with burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Cemetery in Agawam.
