Mary L Hawkins

MARY LOUISE (GUSTAVE)  HAWKINS, 81, departed this life on Monday, August 13, 2018 at Baystate Medical Center.   Born on Friday, November 13, 1936 in Baton Rouge, LA to the late Isadore Gustave and Carrie Dumon (Menefee) Gustave, Mary grew up in Louisiana and later graduated from  Meharry College entering the healthcare field as a registered nurse.  In Springfield she worked at both Ring Nursing Home and  Municipal Hospital for many years.  She was also a VFW Auxillary member.  Mary loved to read, solve crossword puzzles and sew. She especially loved the beach.  Predeceased by parents, her husband Alfred Hawkins Sr., and her son Albert I. Hawkins, she leaves to cherish her memory, three beloved children-Alfred Hawkins Jr. and Lillian Brown both of Springfield and Rosa Wiggins of Clarksville, TN; 19 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  Her memorial service celebrating a  life well lived will be held Friday at 11 a.m.
