Mathis Daniels Jr.

Mathis Daniels Jr., 57, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 8, 2020.  Born and raised in Springfield, MA he was the son of Josephine (Washington) Daniels and Mathis Daniels Sr.  A lifelong resident of this city, he was employed as a security guard for many years and worshipped at the family church--Shiloh COGIC .  An avid sports fan, Mathis enjoyed cheering on his favorite football team--the Dallas Cowboys and spending time with his family.  Predeceased by his father,Mathis Sr., he leaves to cherish his memory, his mother Elizabeth Daniels; his wife Mary Elizabeth (Harris) Daniels; and four sons Torrey Pulling, Cordell Daniels, Mathis Daniels III and Michael Harris ; three brothers Mark Daniels and Napoleon Daniels all of Springfield and Chris Porter of Tennessee; four sisters Colleen Daniels, Elizabeth Daniels, Crystal Daniels and Shesta Porter also of Springfield; 4 brothers in law and six sisters in law and 11 grandchildren.  The calling hour is Wednesday 10 -11 a.m. at Shiloh COGIC,  91 Jasper Street followed by the funeral at 11 a.m. with burial immediately following in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Harrell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
