Patrick P Downey

Patrick Paul Downey, 63, of Springfield went home to the Lord  on Sunday , April 29, 2018 after a long period of failing health, upheld by his great faith in Jesus Christ and his many loving friends from Harvest Bible Chapel of Ludlow.  He was born on March 31, 1955 in Orange, NJ, to Stephen F. and Helen M. (Tracey) Downey.  Pat grew up in Scituate MA.  Upon leaving school, he entered the U.S. Army as a career soldier.  When he left the service he eventually earned his journeyman's plumbing license, working as a plumber. He was predeceased by his wife Gail (Bradshaw) Downey and his parents.  He was one of 14 children, predeceased by his brothers Philip, Martin, Vincent and James and his stepson the late Kenneth Bartelson.  He is survived by his step-grandson  Jacob Bartelson; his siblings and their spouses: Stephen F. Downey III of Hingham, MA, Mary Downey, Ft. Meyers, FL, Therese Duane, Scituate, MA, Ann (Bill) Banach of Hardwick, MA, John (Joy) Downey, Nokesville, VA, William Downey , MA, Joseph (Ellen) Downey , Chalfont, PA, Agnes Downey, Pingree Grove, IL, David (Tracy) Downey, E. Providence, RI; step-sons Allan Bartelson of Springfield, MA, Eugene Allen of GA; step-daghters Melissa Allen  of GA and Christine Allen of R.I. and many nieces and nephews.  He very much appreciated the compassionate care he received from the staff at Jewish Nursing Home in Longmeadow, MA.  He also leaves behind his kind friends Patricia O'Connor, Michael Orlandi and Ben and Wilma Turgeon all of Springfield.
