Vernia Mae Mells

Vernia Mae Mells went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at the Jewish Geriatric Life Care Center in Longmeadow, MA. She was born in Cox, GA to the late Annie M. Jones Mells. Vernia graduated from The High School of Commerce in 1960 and studied Secretarial Sciences at Springfield Technical Community College. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Springfield, where she was employed as Church Secretary for several years. Vernia retired from Westover Air Reserve Base in 2011. She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted sister and caretaker, Annie L. Perry of Springfield; a niece, Karen Shodeke of Arlington, TX; two grandnieces, Alexis and Angelina Shodeke of Tacoma, WA; and a great grandnephew, Christin J. Dennis of Tacoma.
