Edna Walkes

Edna (Stewart) Walkes, 85, of Pheland St., Springfield, departed this life on Thursday, June 13, 2019.  Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was a daughter of Charlie and Laura Goodine and was the widow of William Stewart Sr. and Fred Walkes.  Edna graduated from Stamford (CT) High School and later moved to Springfield where she worked as a nurses' aide and was a member of St. John's Congregational Church.  Edna is survived by three children, David Stewart, Doreathea S. Walker, and Victoria Stewart Smith;  two sisters, Rosemary Jamison, and Merdia Walker;  12 grandchildren;  21 great-grandchildren;  and 3 great-grandchildren.  The calling hour is 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Harrell Funeral Home followed by the funeral at noon.
