Thomas Murray Sr.

Thomas Murray, Sr., 81, of Chicopee, Massachusetts, passed away at Baystate Medical Center on Thursday July 4, 2019 from complications following a difficult surgery. He was born in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Joseph D. and Agnes L. (Riley) Murray. Tom was a lover of the outdoors and was happiest when he could be walking among the trees, listening to the birdsong and watching the small critters scurry about. He liked to travel the back roads of New England, taking time to enjoy all that was before him. He lived in Springfield. MA and made his living as a concrete finisher, and through superior workmanship he was known to be one of the best in the city, earning the respect and trust of all of those for whom he worked.

He leaves to cherish his memory his partner of twenty-six years, Christine (Tina) Hardaker; two sons, Thomas Murray, Jr, of Newport News, VA and Harry D. Murray, of Havre De Grace, MD; a daughter, Yolanda E. Murray of Springfield, MA; two sisters, Minnie Gill of Springfield, MA and Thelma Davis of Wilbraham, MA; Ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is predeceased by his wife, Julia Ann (Morris)Murray; his brothers, Harry D. Murray, Sr.; Melvin Murry and Hercules Murray; and a sister Carrie Elliott.
