Alexander Patterson

  Alexander Patterson, 86, formerly of Brittany Road, Indian Orchard, Massachusetts, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2023, at Sixteen Acres Healthcare in Springfield. 

  A native South Carolinian, Mr. Patterson moved to Springfield in 1955 and worked as a machinist for many years at American Bosch.  He was an avid music lover and sang in several gospel groups.  Mr. Patterson is survived by two daughters, Rev. Gail Green and Amanda Alexander, both of Springfield;  two brothers, Robert Patterson and Marvin Patterson of Pineland, South Carolina;  eight grandchildren;  six great-grandchildren;  one great-great grandchild;  and many friends.  He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Mary Frances (Cheeks) Patterson;  a son, Ronnie McGowan;  and a daughter, Linda McGowan;  three brothers;  and three sisters.

The calling hour will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Gardner A.M.E. Zion Church, 368 Bay Street, Springfield, followed by the funeral at 1p.m.  Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
