Annie Jackson Obituary

Annie Mae Jackson, affectionately known as Mae, was called home July 3,2022  in her home surrounded by her family and loved ones in Franklin,MA. Annie was born in Ellenton, GA on April 3,1947 to The late Marie King and the late James Lee Jackson. She grew up in Adel, GA where she went to school and began singing in her local girls group. She then moved to Springfield, MA , at the age of 18 where she became a long time resident.

Annie was a pillar in her community, from her building a community garden, to her running her own home child daycare, to being on the Springfield housing authority board for many years. When Annie wasn't helping out in the community she was singing in her church choir, or being the well known seamstress that she was. She worked for Springfield public schools as a bus driver for over 20 years and then retired to be elder help at the Dunbar Community Center. Annie loved listening to her oldies, singing, fishing anywhere there was water, watching her westerns and spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children. One thing that was for certain was her love and devotion to God, she was known for rallying up neighborhood kids and friends for church on Sunday mornings.

She is preceded in death  by both her parents, her baby boy Markus Jackson, the love of her life Samuel Mitchell, her niece Veneica Seabrooks, her sister Viola Seabrooks, Brothers; James Lee Jackson Jr, Thomas Jackson, and Rufus Jackson. Annie is survived by her children Kenneth Jackson (Laurie) of Chesterfield,VA ,Tonya Doyley (Gregory) of Plainville, MA, her eight Grandchildren; Ariana Templeton (Willie), Dayje Jackson, Jeremy Dyer (Toya), Kenneth Jackson Jr (Keisha) Damian Jackson, Briana Doyley, Devonnaire Jackson, and Greggory Doyley. Two bonus Granddaughters Ivelisse Ortiz Greene (Gregory) and Glenda Ortiz and 11 Great-grandchildren. A very close sister/cousin Correen Palamore , Sisters; Buelah Leggette, Reby Townsend, Vivian Jackson, Lilly Durrel, Berdis Wright, and Patricia Burns, Brothers; Carey Jackson and  Earl Lee Jackson. A dear friend/Sister in law Nora Singleton and host of nieces, nephews, family and close friends. She leaves behind her cherished memories with her family and loved ones.
