On Monday, February 24, 2025, Arlene M. Brown-Jenkins of West Springfield, MA, departed this life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by her husband and other family members.
Arlene was born on July 26, 1951, to Rufus and Helen Brown of Connecticut, and is the first of four siblings. She later moved to Springfield and in 1995 she met the love of her life Kevin D. Jenkins. They were married in 2005 and have been together happily ever since.
Arlene served as an Administrative Assistant at MassMutual Life Insurance Co. in Springfield, MA, in her past career. As she had a love of community and serving others, she was also employed at several local organizations including: Springfield Neighborhood Housing Services, the Dunbar Community Center, and the Urban League of Springfield.
Arlene had a strong love for her family, and loved spending time with her husband watching old black and white movies and going on long road trips together with him. She had a love of cooking, playing video games, and collecting crystals.
Predeceased by her parents and two older brothers, Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memory a host of other family and friends including her husband Kevin; three daughters, Cassandra Ann Brown Freeman (and husband, Jesse Freeman) of South Carolina, Calesha Brown of New York, and Lashana Brown of Florida; two step-daughters, Tashanda Epps and Lanetta Stiles; two step-sons, Kevin Jenkins Jr. and Maurice Jenkins; a brother, Leonard Brown of CT; 31 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
The calling hour will be Tuesday, March 11th at 11am at Mission Church, 20 Bowdoin Street, Springfield, MA followed by funeral services at noon, with burial at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
