Aurelia Monserrate

Aurelia (Gonzalez) Monserrate, 59, of State St., passed away at home on Monday, October 21, 2019.  Born in Cayey, Puerto Rico, a daughter of Isabelino Gonzalez and Zoraida (Ayala) Gonzalez, she moved to Springfield in 1968 and claimed it an honor to live here, where she attended the Spanish Christian Church.  She expressed her love for others  and love for her Spanish culture and language thru her phenomenal cooking.  Aurelia is survived by a brother, Anibal Gonzalez;  seven sisters, Alicia, Adina, Ana Elba, Ada, Ada Irma, Alba, and Awilda;  her long time companion, Michael;  her beloved cat, Ali;  and numerous other family members.  She was pre-deceased by her parents and her husband, Gilberto Monserrate.  A memorial service honoring her life will be held at Harrell Funeral Home on Saturday at 10 a.m.
