Barbara Rankin

 Barbara Jean (Rushin) Rankin, 71, departed this life on October 5, 2021.  Born in Americus, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late LC Rushin and the late Ethal Mae (Denson) Eddington. 

 Barbara was a member of Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ.  She attended The High School of Commerce in Springfield and went on to become a healthcare worker.  In 2017, Barbara furthered her education, obtaining her Associate’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. 

 Pre-deceased by four uncles and a sister, Mary Lois Jernigan, she is survived by four children, Eugenia Carter (and Kevin), Ira Rankin (and Tanisha), and Lana Douglas (and Junior), all of Springfield, and Eugene Rankin Jr. (and Nina) of CT;  three sisters, Ada Turner, Debra Fletcher, and Cheryl Knowles;  an aunt, Constance D. Denson;  20 grandchildren;  18 great-grandchildren;  and a host of other family and friends. 

The calling hour is 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at Holy Trinity Church of God in Christ, 57 Bay Street, followed by funeral services at 7 p.m.
