Basami (White) Charvis, 87, of Beacon, Cir., departed this life on January 24, 2018. Born in Augusta, GA, she was the second of four children of Reuben and Rezella (Davis) White. Ms. Charvis lived in New Haven, CT before moving to Springfield in 1967. She worked for many years as the Administrative Secretary for Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, where she was an active and committed member. She is survived by four children, Sean Charvis of Manchester, CT, James Charvis III and Roxanne Charvis, both of Springfield, and Cheryl Jackson of Cary, NC; a sister, Dorothy Gomez of New Haven; 10 grandchildren; and a special friend, Herbert McCummings of Springfield. The calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Harrell Funeral Home, with funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Third Baptist Church. Burial will be in New Haven, CT.
