Carlton L. Brodie Jr., aged 69, fondly called “Mr. Sunny” of Pelham Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Carlton Brodie Sr. and Jean (Faniel) Fox.
He grew up in Springfield. As a young man, he attended the Church of the Living God. He graduated from the former Technical High School and attended Western New College. He was an avid fisherman and loved DIY projects. Carlton was pre-deceased by four sisters, Lillian Brodie, Violet Porter, Linda Stevenson, and Judith James, and also a daughter, Korrie Montgomery.
He is survived by his beloved wife and partner of 44 years, Brenda (Neal) Brodie; two sons, Courtney Brodie and Dionte Brodie; five daughters, Erica Lee, Donya (and husband, Morrell) Walker, Diona Brodie, Felicia (and husband, Dakota) McNeely, and Ebony Brodie; two sisters, Charlotte (and husband, William) and Gail MaCalla of Atlanta, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a god-daughter, Ayanna Belnavis; and many special friends, bonus sons/daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. He will be sorely missed by all who loved him.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, December 29, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home.
