Catherine Rachel Jordan, 82, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away quietly the morning of Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
Catherine was born March 23, 1941, in Springfield to Chappell Kennedy and Mrs. Desolene Elizabeth (Johnson) Kennedy. She remained a lifelong resident of Springfield, retiring after 31 years of service from CHD, formerly Hawthorne Services. She was regularly active in community service as the former secretary of the Winchester Square Golden Agers and the Springfield Action Council. Catherine enjoyed delivering annual holiday meals for the Open Pantry to the sick and shut-in.
Catherine was a proud member of the Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, serving as a former usher and head junior usher leader as well as a member of the gospel choir. She will forever be missed by her daughters, Barbara Jean Kennedy, Rosanna L. Watts, Gwendolyn D. Watts, Valerie R. Watts, all of Springfield; her son, Sterling K Watts (Annette) of Springfield; as well as 14 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her brothers Chappell Kennedy Jr., James Kennedy, and grandson Kenneth L. Watts.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church, 797 State Street, Springfield, MA, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
