Charlie Ray Vereen, 66, of Cloran Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Born in South Carolina, he attended schools there before relocating to Syracuse, New York, for his high school years. Charles loved to play basketball and was great at cutting hair. He was also known for being a “sharp dresser” when you saw Charles, he was always dressed to impress. Charles had been employed as a PCA for Stavros. He loved his family very dearly and the love of his life was Barbara Daniels. Charles also had a special love for his dog, Mae Belle.
Pre-deceased by his mother, Mae (Vereen) Thompson, and sister Jacqueline Hemmingway, and his son, Rashimel Spievey, he is survived by his significant other of 17 years, Barbara Daniels of Springfield MA; and his sister, an aunt Mamie Hyman of New Britain, CT; a special grandson, Kayden; a nephew, Travis Hemmingway of New Mexico; and a host of cousins, relatives and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, at Harrell Funeral Home.
