Chester L. Cummings

  Chester Lee Cummings, 78, of Northway Drive, Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at Heritage Hall West Nursing Home in Agawam, Massachusetts.  Born in Kensett, Arkansas, he was a son of Benjamin Bowens and Mary (Rice) Bowens.

  A 60-year resident of Springfield, Mr. Cummings loved to prepare food for other people and worked as a short order cook for many years.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Church Of God In Christ and enjoyed gospel music and reading the bible. 

  Pre-deceased by his parents and a sister, Ruth Cummings, he is survived by his wife, Bessie Elaine (Byrd) Cummings;  four children, Chester Grimes Jr., Andre Jordan, Robert Cummings, and Darlene Grimes;  ten grandchildren;  two great-grandchildren (with one on the way);  and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Church Of God In Christ, 57 Bay Street, Springfield, MA
