Craig Arnold Jackson, a life-long resident of Springfield, MA, passed away on May 22, 2022, from serious medical ailments. He spent his last days in the warm embrace and care of loved ones. He was born June 30th, 1946, to Eugene and Ernestine (Brown) Jackson. He worked as the manager of the Parts Department at Mercedes-Benz Lewbar Imports for around 30 years.
Craig was a graduate of the former Technical High School. He attended Norfolk State University studying Art. He enjoyed drawing, painting and photography throughout his life. In his later years, he also took art classes at Springfield Technical Community College. He enjoyed listening to jazz, fishing, playing cards, and billiards which he often practiced on his home pool table.
Craig was active in the Springfield community through his participation and assisting in instruction of Kenpo, Jujutsu, and Goju Karate at the Leo Williams’ Mind Body and Spirit Martial Arts Institute for 25 years attaining the level of 5th Degree Black Belt and title of Master. He was also a member of the local Tennis community for decades and was known to frequent many courts throughout Springfield, especially at Blunt Park. He will be remembered for his calm, friendly demeanor and his witty sense of humor.
He is survived by his two sons, Tyron and Nicholas Jackson, his spirit daughter, Jessica Sunny and her children, Joshua and Delia, a nephew Eugene Allen, and many friends whom he considered as family.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11, with burial in Springfield Cemetery.
