Cynthia Treasure

March 16, 2021

Cynthia Merle Treasure, 89 years old, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at her assisted living facility.

Cynthia was born in Saint Ann, Jamaica and moved to Springfield in 1970.  She was employed by Wesson Memorial Hospital where she retired after 30 years of service.

Cynthia was a woman of faith and a longtime member of her beloved Zion Community Baptist Church in Springfield, where she sang in the choir.  She had a beautiful singing voice.  She loved God and crocheting.  Crocheting was her passion.  She could crochet for hours and made the most beautiful blankets, which she always gave away to friends and family.  She would also crochet caps for the babies in the neo natal unit at Baystate hospital.

She was an amazing Aunt and Grandmother.  She had so much love to share.  Her love for children is what led her to become a foster grandparent with the Urban League Foster Grandparent program, where she brought so much joy to children’s lives and loved to make them laugh.

Cynthia is pre-deceased by her father, Charles Matias Treasure;  mother, Isadora (Burton) Treasure;  son, Errol Vernon Nevers, Sr.;  sisters, Enid Treasure, May Moses, and Lola Smith;  and brothers, Carl Treasure and Julio Jreaswec.  She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister, Louise Redwood of Kingston, Jamaica;  two grandchildren, Errol V. Nevers, Jr. and Brittani Nevers of Indianapolis, IN;  three great grandchildren, Nathan Smith, Daelynn Mclayea and Daniel Mclayea of Indianapolis, IN;  nieces and nephews, Marlene Rose Jreaswec of Randolph, Massachusetts, Robert Charles Jreaswec (and wife, Deisha) of Springfield, Paul Anthony Jreaswec (and wife Gillian) of West Springfield, MA, and Julie Anne Maxey (and husband Terry) of Feeding Hills, MA;  nieces and nephews in New York, California, Florida and Jamaica;  and a host of relatives and friends.

The public walk-thru wake is 10-11 a.m. Friday at Harrell Funeral Home.  Funeral services are private
