Daryl S. Akers

Daryl Scott  (Buddha) Akers, 57, Springfield  passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2020 surrounded by his family.   Born in Springfield, MA on January 21, 1963, the son of  the late Charles E. Akers and Mary E. (Wilson) Akers, Daryl was a lifetime resident of the City of Springfield and was affectionately known as "Low-Down" to many friends and family.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Charles "Tony" Akers in 2001.  Daryl is survived by a  daughter Corra A. Akers of  Springfield, two brothers Larry Akers (his wife Mary)  and  Christian Bigelow of Springfield; four sisters Leola Akers, Pamela Bennifield, and Ingrid Akers  all of Springfield and Sonya Akers of Ocoee, FL; and two grandchildren, Jaylin and Kiyzha and a host of family and friends.  The family would like to extend special thanks to Lisa Valentin and Juan Diaz for their many years of devoted caregiving and sincere friendship.  There will be a memorial walk thru Thursday at Harrell Funeral Home from 11 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
