Dennis James Guidry, 67, of Riverdale Street, West Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Friday, February 16, 2024, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Born in DeRidder, Louisiana, he was a son of the late Lawrence Guidry and the late Pearl (Richard) Guidry.
Mr. Guidry moved to Springfield at an early age. After graduation from high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps. Dennis was employed as a bus driver for Pioneer Valley Transit Authority. He enjoyed fishing and racing cars. Dennis is survived by six children, Dennis Brown, Tyreck Poole, Lamear Poole, Jahleele Guidry, and Antoinette Guidry, all of Springfield, and LaShonda Johnson of Pennsylvania; three brothers, Wesley Guidry of Seabrook, Texas, Kenneth Guidry of Port Arthur, Texas, and Michael Guidry of Springfield; five sisters, Ramona Thomas of Springfield, Pronolia Chavis of Savannah, Georgia, Lawrence Clark of Chicopee, Massachusetts, Rono Mensah of New Iberia, Louisiana, and Debra Dorlouis of Ludlow, Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 11.
Military Honors will take place Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
