Elder Donald Daughtry, passed away from this earthly life to his heavenly home on December 29, 2023. He was the son of the late Marcel and Julia Daughtry Sr. Elder Daughtry was educated in the Springfield Public Schools and was a graduate of the former Springfield Trade High School.
He was employed by the City of Springfield for forty years until his retirement. He was the Administrator of the mayor’s Clean City Project, also working for the Department of Public Works. At the time of his retirement, he received a proclamation from Mayor Dominic Sarno, proclaiming August 29, 2014, as Donald Daughtry Day. He also worked as a Home Care Provider for Service Net and Multicultural Service. He was a 33rd Degree Mason of Most Worshipful Sons Of Light A.F. & A.M. of Connecticut. He was a dedicated member of the United House Of Prayer For All People, where he was the Assistant Pastor in New Bedford, Massachusetts and in Springfield, before becoming the honorary Assistant Pastor until his passing. Elder Daughtry also managed the church’s Soul Food Kitchen. He enjoyed life and loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Pre-deceased by his parents, and four brothers, Marcell Daughtry Jr., Robert “Bobby” Daughtry, Malik “Alton” Daughtry, and Ronald Daughtry Sr. (his twin), he is survived by his wife, Alethia Daughtry; three sons, John Daughtry, David Daughtry Sr., and Phillip Daughtry Sr.; two daughters, Jennifer Daughtry and Nicole Daughtry; ten grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives; and many friends.
The calling hour is 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 8, 2024, at The United House Of Prayer, 331 Wilbraham Road, Springfield, Massachusetts, followed by funeral services at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
