Dwight E. Richardson

Dwight Elliott Richardson Sr., 72, of Springfield, MA, went into the outstretched arms of his Heavenly Father on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT. Dwight was born on Labor Day, September 3, 1947, to the late Ulysses and Lillian (Jones) Richardson in Yonkers, NY. He graduated from Yonkers High School and was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served four years. Later, he graduated from Springfield Technical Community College with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by Uniroyal for many years and retired from Westvaco. Dwight leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife of more than 50 years, Mary (Dickson) Richardson; three children, Holly (Richardson) Brown and Marvin Tony (and Octavia) Richardson of Washington D.C., and Dwight (and Jossy) Richardson Jr. of Springfield; three siblings, Wayne Richardson of Atlanta, GA, and Karen Harrison and Sheila Day of Clayton, NC; four grandchildren, Tessy Texidor of Springfield, USAF Senior Airman, Charissa Richardson of Spokane, WA, Donovan Richardson of Queens, NY, and Jy'Den-Myles Richardson of Washington D.C.; four great-grandchildren, Janiah Rose, Alani Rose, and Joell Junior of Springfield and Roman Richardson-Sanchez of Fairchild, WA; and a god-son, Daryn Hill of Springfield. The walk-thru calling hours are Wednesday, 10-11:30 a.m. at Harrell Funeral Home, with burial at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. Facial masks and social distancing are required.
