Eleanor (Willis) Fuller, departed this life on August 15, 2023, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. She was born on March 12, 1926, in Raleigh, North Carolina, and raised in Mamaroneck, New York. She was the daughter of Mary (Cross) Willis and Fred J. Willis.
Eleanor was married to James R. Fuller Sr. on July 17, 1948, and to this union, three children were born: James R. Fuller Jr., Carl A. Fuller, and Joan E. Fuller. She was employed at Springfield College Admissions Office for 40 years, as a data processing liaison. While employed at three jobs and raising three children, Eleanor earned a B.A. degree and a Masters Degree. She was presented the Cheney Award on May 20, 1987, at Springfield College.
Left to mourn their loss are her son, Carl, and daughter, Joan; her grandchildren, Emily C. Fuller and Jelani E. Fuller; two daughters-in-law, Celestine C. Fuller and Kazuko N. Fuller; sisters-in-law, Minerva Willis and Dorothy Willis; and one great-grandson, Amari Fuller. She was pre-deceased by her parents; four siblings, Reid, Theodore, Helene K., and Howard Willis; nieces, Joanne Nix, Georgia Collins, and Patricia Smith; nephews, Gerald Willis and Ronald Willis; three aunts, Eva Haugabook, Clara Catoe, and Alberta McQueen; an uncle, William Cross; and her former husband, James R. Fuller Sr.
Memorial donations may be made to the Urban Education Program, Joan E. Fuller Scholarship, at Westfield State University and/or the John Wilson Book Scholarship at Springfield College. A memorial service will be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 14, at Harrell Funeral Home.
