Eloise Tart

 Eloise Tart, 69, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2021, surrounded by loved ones, after fighting a long battle, at her daughter’s home.  She was born in Sampson County, North Carolina, to the late Robert and Rosalee (Ford) Tart.  Eloise moved to Springfield in the late 60’s with her child and her longtime companion, James Lewis.

 She was a member of New Jerusalem Church, where she fellowshipped with her brothers and sisters.  She would light up a room with her loving personality and infectious smile.  She was a gentle, kind, and loving soul.

 Pre-deceased by her parents, a sister, Helen Tart, and a brother, Larry Tart, she is survived by her daughters, Sharon Tart (and Melvin) and Glenda Mack (and Cliff), both of Springfield.  Eloise was a sister of Mattie Williams, Eveline O’Neil, Robert Tart, Nathaniel (and Edna) Tart, and Linda Tart;  a longtime companion of James Lewis;  a loving grandmother to Shatara Poindexter, Clifton Mack, Shannon Tart, Chris Mack, and Quincy Mack;  and a great grandmother to Amya Dise, La’Naya Mack, Adaya Swain, and Emoni Keaton.  She also had several (great) nieces and nephews and friends.

The family wishes to extend its gratitude to her caretakers: Baystate Hospice, Sharon Tart, Glenda Mack, and Linda Tart.

 The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Friday at New Jerusalem C.O.G.I.C., 209 Quincy St, Springfield, followed by funeral services at 11
