Ernest James Lawson Sr., 90, departed this life on July 28, 2021. Born in West Virginia, Mr. Lawson was a son of the late Ira James Lawson and Louise (Kimbrough) Lawson.
He served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War, and was a 60-year resident of Springfield, where he had been employed by Crestview Country Club and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, JoAnn (Clark) Lawson; four children, Michelle Lawson, Ernest Lawson Jr. (and Kelly), Kevin Jiles (and Ine), and Lisa Borders (and Julian); three step-daughters, Michelle Clark, Shanekha Young, and LaToya Samson: and nine grandchildren.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 33 Oak St. Springfield, followed by funeral services at 11, with burial in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
