Ernest Ronald Mann, 70, departed his earthly home on Monday, August 2, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center; one day before his 71st birthday. Born on August 3, 1950 in Springfield, MA , Ernest was the son of Ernest Lowe Mann of Louisburg, NC and Annie Ruth (Dunston) Mann of Bunn, NC. He was educated in Springfield and remained a lifelong resident, working for many years as a set up/floor man at Pioneer Packaging, where he met many friends. He enjoyed listening to music and singing, electronics, traveling "down South," eating good food, and watching football (Ernest was a huge New England Patriots fan); but most of all he enjoyed spending precious time with his family, specifically the grandchildren, and making everyone laugh and smile. He was a very funny man and loved to smile.
Predeceased by his father, and two brothers Gerald Mann and Douglas Hartsfield, Ernest is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Althea Elizabeth (Vaughan) Mann, one son Ernest Fickling, two daughters Cherish A. Mann and Janeiah Fickling, his step-daughter Catherine Fickling , a brother Michael Steven Mann (also known as Lakim), and his sister Shirley Epps, all of Springfield. He also leaves 6 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews to cherish his memory. The calling hours will be Monday, 6-8 p.m. at Harrell Funeral Home. The funeral is Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Out of an abundance of caution for your safety we kindly request that you wear a mask while inside the funeral home.
