Ethel M. Wallace-Hudson, 96, departed this life on Friday, October 30, 2020. She was born in Springfield, MA to the late Rev. Charles and Margaret Baisden. A graduate of the former Technical High School, she had been department manager at the former Forbes and Wallace in Springfield, a worker at the Springfield Armory during World War II, and retired as a dispatcher at the Springfield Police Department. She was a member of Canaan Baptist Church of Christ. Over more than 75 years, she sang in and directed numerous area choirs including the Third Baptist Sanctuary Choir, Pearl Gospel Singers, Canaan Baptist Church Voices of Promise, and the Freedom Choir of Greater Springfield (since 1969). Pre-deceased by her siblings, Edith Robinson and William Baisden, she leaves her children, Peté DeCuir, Sandra Macdonald, Graylin Wallace, Roger Wallace, and Deanna Roberts; 7 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The calling hours are 5-7 p.m. Friday, at Canaan Baptist Church of Christ. Funeral services are private.
