Florence P. Cage, 92, of Springfield, MA, passed away on August 9, 2021. Born to David and Beatrice Coleman on October 4, 1928 in Miles OH. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Earline Hall, and ex-husband Charles Cage. She is survived by her cousins Brenda Ziegler and daughter Yvette, Diana and Jackie as well as other cousins.
She was baptized at Valley Baptist Church in Niles, Ohio. She was an avid lover of tennis and golf. She was the assistant to the pastor’s wife and children. She always referred to small children lovingly as ‘Little Boogers’. Florence moved from Niles OH to Springfield MA in 1948. She moved to work in Chicago in 1950 but returned to Springfield to assist her ailing mother in 1991. She became a member of St John’s Congregational Church and was considered to be one of the best dressed women in attendance. Florence frequented many casinos with her special long-time friend, Spfld Police Det Harold Clinton. After his passing in 2010, at his request, James Voltz became her caretaker until her passing.
