Frances Madelene (Brown) Gray Threat, 78, of Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Ransom, North Carolina, she was the fifth of seven children of Miles Brown and Annie Mae (Moore) Brown.
Frances was a sixty-year resident of Springfield and had been employed as payroll supervisor by Women’s Specialty Retailing Group. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Riegelwood, North Carolina and the Even Uniques Club of Springfield. She enjoyed dancing and cooking.
Pre-deceased by her parents, one sister, Mary Carol Williams, and four brothers, Roland Brown, Lenwood "Chubby" Brown, Miles "Junebug" Brown, and William "Joe" Brown, Frances is survived by her husband, Bobby Threat of Springfield; a daughter, Robin Gray of West Hempstead, New York; a brother, Frankie Brown of Riegelwood; a sister, Kizzie Everett of Springfield; a grandson, Philip Gray; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, at Harrell Funeral Home, 355 St. James Avenue, Springfield, MA., followed by burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
