Gary Donald Snead, 77, of Marion Street, Springfield, MA, departed this life on November 23, 2021, at Mercy Medical Center.
Born in Albany, NY, he was the second of nine children of Christine Johnson and Edward L. Snead Sr. A 50-year Springfield resident, he worked for Springfield Public Schools. He attended Zion Community Baptist Church. Brother Snead was a Master Mason and served as Worshipful Master and Past Master of Richard Allen Lodge #30 and as Past Worthy Patron of Sumner Chapter #5, Order of the Eastern Star.
Pre-deceased by his parents and six siblings, Edward, Niles, Christine, Pam, Jackie, and Sherry, he is survived by a son, David Crocker of Washington, D.C.; a daughter, Sonya Barber of Springfield; a brother, Jimmy in Oregon; a sister, Shawn in Missouri; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Friday at Whole Truth C.O.G.I.C., 8 Norfolk St., followed by the funeral at 11, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
