Gertrude (Bynum) Coleman, 78, of Mountainview Street, departed this life on July 6, 2021. Born in Shellman, Georgia, she was a daughter of Willie C. Bynum, Annie (Lewis) Bynum, and Gussie Bynum. Gertrude was a 57-year resident of Springfield, where she worked as a CNA and was a member of Shiloh Community Pentecostal Church. An evangelist, she loved God, taking care of her grandchildren, and spending time with her sister.
She is survived by her husband, Cleve Coleman; four sons, Ronald Coleman, Donald Coleman, Michael Coleman, and William Murphy; five daughters, Deborah Martin, Doris Murphy, Melissa Kelly, Wanda Coleman, and Lisha Coleman; two brothers, Victor Bynum and Lorenzo Bynum; three sisters, Hattie Gasque, Doris Bynum, and Diane Bynum; twenty-nine grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Shiloh Community Pentecostal Church, 91 Jasper Street, followed by funeral services at 11, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
