Glensie Gasque Obituary

Glensie Mae Gasque, 64, of Springfield, MA, passed away peacefully with her children by her side on Tuesday, June 16, 2020 at Baystate Medical Center.  She was born to the late Reverend Annie Mae Simmons (Woodson) and Fred Willie Cotton Sr, in Chicago, IL before relocating to Springfield, MA in 1973. 

Mother Glensie loved the Lord and was a proud member of Greater Harvest Church Of God In Christ. She loved her church family and was a true warrior and an overcomer, who taught everyone she met to fight the good fight of Faith, which was evident in her everyday life. She loved family gatherings, hosting family dinners and gospel music. Her favorite television shows which she could always be found watching were – Little House on the Prairie, The Walton’s, I Love Lucy, Bonanza, Gun Smoke and The Hallmark Channel. 

Mother Glensie was predeceased by her parents, the late Annie Mae Simmons (Woodson) and Fred Willie Cotton Sr., and one brother Fred Willie Cotton Jr.  She leaves to cherish her memory two aunts; Rosie Pinkney (Isaac) and Idelia Joiner of Hartford, CT; five sisters, Lucinda (Cindy) Cotton of Charlette, NC, Rosemary (Ted) Rice of Hartford, CT, Jaqueline Simmons Allder, Annette Simmons, and Aretha Simmons of Springfield, MA; two brothers, Joseph Cotton and Pete Cotton of Springfield, MA. Her beloved children, Karen Otieno (Vincent), Felicia Gasque-Wilson (Bobby), Eugenia Gasque (Barry) and Robert Wayne Gasque Jr. (Kathy) all of Springfield, MA. Twenty grandchildren: Cornelius Cotton of Springfield, MA, Karenia Sanford (De’Andre) of Fort Mills, SC, Dynasty Wilson, Sommers Smith, Edward Long Jr., Dymin Wilson, Camari Long, Destanie Wilson, Shakeya Smith, Kendrick Long, Candice Long, Bobby Wilson Jr.,  Kadian Jones, Alexis Gasque, Brianne Gasque, Caitlyn Gasque, Robert Gasque III, Jeremiah Gasque, Joshua Gasque and Danielle Gasque all of Springfield, MA. Three Great Grandchildren: Phoenix Cotton, Prince Mandell Cotton and Gabriella Sanford and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
