Gloria J. (Underwood) Cost, 79, of King Street, Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Thursday, November 17, 2022.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, she was a daughter of Henry Underwood and Oliva J. Kelley-Underwood-Poellnitz. Gloria was formerly employed by Danaher Tool Group as a Machinist and retired in 2005 after 37 years. She was family oriented and loved to cook and entertain.
Pre-deceased by her husband, Major A. Cost III, and her parents, she is survived by two sons, Major A. Cost IV and Timothy Cost Sr., both of Springfield; a daughter-in-law, Michelle Cost of Springfield; a brother, Roosevelt Poellnitz of Springfield; two sisters, Shirley Dowdell of Springfield and Johnnie Jacobs of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Tyrone Rawlins, LaToya Cost, Taija Newton, Timothy Cost Jr., and Avian Cost; a great-grandson, Donnell Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
The calling hour is 9-10 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2022, at Mission Church, 20 Bowdoin Terrace, Springfield, MA, followed by funeral services at 10 a.m., with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
