Hattie E. Barnett

  Hattie Earlean (Hunt) Barnett, 79, of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Chapin Center on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. 

  Born in Auburn, Lee County, Alabama, she was the only child of Charles Haley and Janie Mae (Hunt) Dawkins.  She married Rodger Barnett on December 2, 1960, and moved to Springfield.  Hattie worked in local factories in Springfield after raising her children.   She had been a member of the former Faith Baptist Church.  She was a devoted mother and homemaker and led a quiet life, enjoying fishing, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.

  Pre-deceased by her husband and her parents, Hattie is survived by two daughters, Cathy Barnett of Springfield, Massachusetts, and Jacqueline Jones of Auburn, Alabama;  two grandchildren, Robert Thomas Jones and Lashawnda Jade Barnett;  one great-grandchild. Journee R. Jones;  and a host of other relatives and friends.

The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Friday at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11.  with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
