Hiawatha "Junior" Shaird Jr., 57, of Northampton, Massachusetts, passed away on July 10, 2024. Born in Springfield, Massachusetts, Junior was known as a gentle warrior, embodying both charisma and discipline throughout his life. Junior was a respected member of the Army, dedicating years of service to his country, which shaped much of his character and values.

Junior's infectious personality made him a beloved figure; he was funny, outgoing, and incredibly charismatic, qualities that made him popular during his high school years and beyond. His athletic prowess was admired by many, and his free-spirited yet disciplined approach to life helped him overcome any obstacles that came his way. Junior was not only a cherished friend but also a devoted family man, considering his roles as a husband and father his greatest accomplishments. He was a person who loved unconditionally, often going out of his way to help others, even strangers.

Junior is survived by his loving daughter, Shai Shaird; grandchildren, Aunist and Shiloh Yarns; and siblings, Curtis Shaird, Tony Shaird, Deena Bynoe Bell, and Mary Shaird. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and presence. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel “Sofie” Muooz and his parents, Claudia and Hiawatha Shaird, Sr.
