Idella (Faust) Parler, 88, died peacefully at home on Monday, November 30, with her family by her side. She was born in Denmark, South Carolina, to the late Raymond and Lula Mae (Ray) Faust.
After completing her education in South Carolina and Florida public schools, she met and married her husband, Robert L. Parler, in 1951 and they moved to Springfield. She worked at MassMutual Life Insurance Company processing policy applications before retiring in 1979.
As a member of Martin Luther King Jr. Presbyterian Church, Idella was a devout Christian who always immersed herself in the word of God and religious literature. She was continuously seeking to understand God on a deeper level and develop a stronger relationship with Him. Quiet, with a kind, gentle and caring spirit, she practiced her faith with family, friends and all she encountered. Her loved ones and her faith in God were the center of her life.
She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Robert L. Parler; her daughter, Linda Nimmons; her sons, Roderick and Robert J. Parler; her sister, Mary Campbell, and her brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Leroy, Israel, Samuel and Johnnie Faust.
Idella is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Parler of Wilbraham; sister, Rosa Hayes of Bayonne, New Jersey; daughters-in-law, Debra Parler and Son Seah Parler; grandchildren, Tara Gorman, LaDawn Nimmons-Njonjo, LaWanda Nimmons, Adam Nimmons, Robby Fields and Lauren Hooker; four great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 10 at 11:00 at Harrell Funeral Home Inc., 355 St. James Avenue, Springfield, MA. Visitation will precede the service from 10:00 to 11:00. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
