Jeffery Louis Brown, 65, of Springfield, MA, transitioned from this life on Friday, April 17, 2020, at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield. Born on February 4, 1955 in Chicopee, MA, he was the son of the late, Staff Sgt. Lewis A. Brown and Mary E. (Key) Brown. As a child whose father was in the military, Jeff received his education from various schools across the country but he graduated in 1973 from Henderson High School in Corydon, KY, where he was the regional and state champion in the triple jump in track and field. Jeff was a Vietnam Era Veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed and lived in Germany. When he returned to the United States he settled in Springfield, where he worked for Springfield Park Department, Department of Public Waste, and lastly, the Water and Sewer Commission, which spans over 35 years. Jeff enjoyed playing Bingo at various places throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York, with his family and friends. Jeff leaves to cherish his memories the love of his life, Christa Scheer Brown, his wife of 40 years. He also leaves his son, Sammy Scheer; his grandchildren, Devon Scheer and Emma Scheer; a brother, Gregory (and Stephanie Murchison) Brown; a sister, Tawanda Brown, all of Springfield; best companion his dog, Castro; and a host of many, many other relatives and friends to cherish his memories. In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. There will be a private service and interment at the Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA.
