Jerry Lee Jones of Springfield, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at her home on January 16, 2024.

Jerry was born August 7, 1945, in Natchez, Mississippi, to the late Henry and Classie Jones. She was the second of three children.

Jerry graduated from Martin High School in Sicily Island, Louisiana, in 1963.  At the age of 18, she followed in the footsteps of her oldest brother, Huey Jones and relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts, where she became employed as a Nurses Aide at Municipal Hospital.  She joined St. Marks C.M.E. Church where she served as an usher and on the board of trustees.

In the summer of 1973, Jerry met her future husband, Michael L Jones.  The two courted and married on August 19, 1978, and together they raised three children.  As time progressed, Jerry became a Girl Scout Leader of Troop #277.  She was employed by the late Asst.   Jerry went on to further her education receiving her certificate from Hartford Seminary in the Black Ministries Certificate Program In 1984.  She graduated from the National Academy of Paralegal Inc. in June of 1993, and served as the Office Manager for Attorney Faith Thompson.

As time progressed, Jerry went on to start her own corporation, Dependable Associates, providing legal services to those in her community and was also a Notary Public for over 35 years.

Jerry was also one of the first local cable producers in Springfield.  She was the creator and Executive Producer of the cable program, the Guiding Light.  She had her pulse on the community.  The Guiding Light became a weekly program showcasing local issues and events that are still relevant today.  One of her highest rated episodes dealt with the topic of police brutality.

Jerry was pre-deceased by her two brothers, Huey Lee Jones and Alkra Lee Jones, both of Springfield and her niece Tiffany Jones of Newport News, Virginia.  She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Michael L.
