Jerry Miller Obituary

Jerry L. Miller, son of the late Charlie Miller Jr. and Mamie (Kit) Miller was born on November 4,1957, in Bladen County, North Carolina and attended Bladen County Schools.  Jerry was the youngest of eight children and was affectionately known as "Moo Baby" a name he embraced with humor, warmth, and a big smile.  After high school, Jerry served his country honorably in the Army National Guard for over 20 years and later built a long and fulfilling career at Milton Bradley, where he worked for over 30 years.  After retirement from Milton Bradley, Jerry worked for both Cartamundi and Vanpool.  His coworkers described him as reliable, hardworking, and always humorous.  Jerry also had a passion for both mechanical and lawn work.  Best known for his sense of humor and easy-going nature, Jerry had a gift for making others laugh and feel at ease.  His honesty and straightforward way of speaking were matched only by the size of his heart.

Jerry wore the “Miller” name with deep pride — both in his heart and on his sleeve.  He was proud of everything the name represented, both in the city he called home and in his North Carolina roots.  Whether it was a cookout, wedding, birthday, or last-minute get-together, Jerry was always there, ready to celebrate, joke around, or eat three plates of food.

He adored his family deeply while holding a special place in his heart for his siblings.  To his nieces and nephews, he was more than an uncle — he was a second father, comedian, and often the life of the party.  He was known to call his family and check-in just to laugh and joke for a few minutes and if he didn’t hear from you in a while, he was known to remind you with his signature phrase: “The phone works both ways ya know!”

Jerry passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie “CJ” Miller Jr. and Mamie “Kit” Miller, as well as his sister, Berthel Miller.  He is survived by five brothers — George (Mae), Skip (Gwen), Lorenzo, Carl, and Alphonzo (Pam) Miller — all of Springfield, Massachusetts, and his sister, Linda S. Miller of Riegelwood, North Carolina.

Jerry also leaves behind two aunts, Estelle Miller and Callie Graham, both of Springfield, MA.  Cherishing his memory are two very special people: his significant other, Angela Coleman, and his beloved “princess,” Kaylee Coleman.  Leaving behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, Jerry will be deeply missed by each of them.

His legacy is one of love, loyalty, laughter — and the pride of being a “Miller”.

The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 11.
