Jewel Lorraine (Dixon) Shaver, of West Springfield, Massachusetts, entered into eternal rest on Friday, December 1, 2023. She passed away peacefully and surrounded with love.
Jewel was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on January 10, 1952. She was a daughter of the late Robert A. Dixon Sr. and Julia M. (Pickett) Dixon. She attended Springfield Public Schools, including The High School of Commerce. Growing up, she was a member of Third Baptist Church, where she developed her love for singing and enjoyed being a part of the choir. Jewel’s favorite pastime was going to Cape Cod, where she would fish, relax on the dock, and spend time by the water with her feet in the sand.
Pre-deceased by four siblings, Carrie M. Gresham, Robert A. Dixon Jr., Theodore C. Dixon, and Diane A. Crapps, Jewel leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Tanya R. Williams; two sons, Melvin L. Shaver Jr. and Gary A. Gaulin Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Felicia B. Gaulin; two grandsons, Kamarii X. Gaulin and Lamel Shaver; and four granddaughters, Kaliyah N. Gaulin, Brianne F.J. Gaulin, Grey A. Gaulin, and Emeri G. Gaulin. She also leaves three brothers, Rev. Alfonzo Dixon, Rev. Leroy Dixon, and Michael Dixon; four sisters, Essie Crapps, Eavon Dixon, Roberta Wanzo, and Deborah Lewis; her best friend, Emma Woods, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn her passing.
The calling hour is noon to 1 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Harrell Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m.
