In love and infinite wisdom, our Heavenly Father called into Eternal Life, Mr. John Tennant Lyles on September 1, 2022, at his home.
Mr. Lyles was born on April 5, 1945, to the late Hiram Whitener Lyles and Eva Worthy Lyles in Newberry, South Carolina. Following graduation, Mr. Lyles moved to Springfield, Massachusetts, where he was a resident for most of his life.
Shortly after arriving in Springfield, Mr. Lyles began employment with Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, where his employment spanned nearly 40 years. Prior to his illness, Mr. Lyles was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, working on his vehicles, and maintaining a well-kept yard, all year round. Mr. Lyles loved sharing his knowledge of his handyman craft with young men. Also, one of his many skills, leave us to say thank you to Mr. Lyles from many young boys who never went to school or special occasion without a fresh haircut.
Those who celebrate his life and cherish his precious memories include his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Celestine Nunn Lyles; two sons, Johnathan Lyles and Brian Lyles, both of Springfield; two granddaughters, Tammi Sue Lyles and Ayleena Lyles, both of Springfield; two brothers, Eutah Lyles and Carl Lyles, both of South Carolina; two sisters, Carrie Lyles and Vonia Lyles, both of South Carolina; loving in-laws, Ollie Lyles and Jeralean Lyles, both of South Carolina and Debbie Nunn, Willie Nunn Jr., and Ronnie Nunn, all of Atlanta, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. The calling hour is from 10-11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 741 State Street, Springfield, MA, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11.
