John H. Robinson, also known as "Father" and "Happy Jack" of Springfield, Massachusetts, departed this life on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hayneville, Alabama, the seventh and the last surviving of eight children of Andrew and Ida (Johnson) Robinson. In 1948, John moved to Springfield, where he met his love, Annie C., and started his family. John worked at Monsanto Co. where he retired after 38 years. He was a member of Overflowing Love Church of the Living God. Prior to relocating to Springfield, he served his country during World War II in the United States Army and was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal.
John enjoyed gardening and taking long walks and bike rides. He also cherished spending time with his family and partaking in good conversation.
Pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Annie C. (Bailey) Robinson and a daughter, Cynthia Johnson, he leaves to cherish his memory, a son, Johnny Robinson of Springfield; four daughters, Joann Holt (Howard) and Regina Robinson, both of Springfield, Ida Engram (Derike) of Richmond, Virginia, and Coretta Lee of Pelham, New Hampshire; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. John was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Andrew and Matthew Robinson, and two sisters, Betty Robinson and Ida M. Huntley, as well as 3 other siblings.
The calling hour is 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, November 10, at Deliverance Center Ministries C.O.G.I.C., 336 Springfield Street in Springfield, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. with burial in Hillcrest Park Cemetery.
