Johnnie Will Phillps Jr. departed this life on September 28, 2023, in Worcester, Massachusetts. He was born to Pauline (Moore) Williams and Johnnie Will Phillips Sr. on February 11, 1956, in Springfield Massachusetts. He was also the son of Jimmie Williams from the age of 3 years old.
Johnnie graduated high school in 1974 from the former Springfield Trade Vocational High (now known as Roger L Putnam Vocational Technical Academy). Shortly after graduation, Johnnie enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, were he served from 1974 to 1976. After the military he worked for the railroads while taking courses at Springfield Technical Community College. Johnnie had a very curious personality growing up. He loved electronics and was so quick to take them apart but putting them back together was a different story. We, his siblings knew if you had a transistor radio (is what they called them back when) you should keep it out of his way or else chances are it would no longer be workable. Johnnie loved to stay very clean pressed whether it was a pair of jeans and T-shirt or a pair of dress slacks and a very pressed shirt. His grooming was always impeccable. In Johnnie's late twenties he migrated to the Boston area and remained there until his demise. While he was in Boston, he studied at the Mount Wachusett Community College and worked different jobs. His last employment being a Research Assistant at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Johnnie was pre-deceased by his three parents, as well as his brothers, Felton P., John Robert W., Hilton M., Ronald M., and Leroy W., also, by his sisters, Jimmie Lee H., and Mary W. Johnnie left to cherish his memories, his son, Dwayne Patterson and two granddaughters, Jalayna and Aryana Patterson. He leaves his stepmother, Ada Phillips, as well as his sisters, Clementine Thomas, Alethea Norrington, Patricia Williams, Mary Ann Dolberry, Johnette Saunders, and Annie Phillips, his brothers, Larry Phillips and Kevin Phillips. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. He also leaves an aunt, Daisy Toy and an uncle, Amos (Cynthia) Moore in Georgia.
